Vietnam: TTP and FTA to help achieve Vietnamese export target
As negotiations of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and other Free Trade Agreements (FTA) conclude this year
, experts aver that it will help the Vietnamese garment and textile sector maintain its export growth momentum from last year and obtain a turnover target of US $ 28-28.5 billion. Once the Vietnam-EU FTA is signed, the tariff rate will fall from 12 per cent to 0 per cent. Similarly, the TPP agreement will abolish US tariff rates of 17-18 per cent. Despite these advantages, experts have said that Vietnam will face difficulties in achieving the export turnover target as the country’s garment and textile industry lacks the vital vertical integration.
